Use cotton canvas that comes pre-primed with acrylic gesso (available: art supply
& craft stores) Draw or stencil palm leaves on your primed canvas. Cut the shapes out. Paint your leaves, you can do both sides, or just one side, depending how low it will be hanging from the cornice board. Be sure to paint the edges of canvas. Allow paint to dry Use a clean damp sponge to lightly wipe away dust particles, then apply two coats of Clear Coat, (optional). Be sure to cover edges also. Allow Clear Coat to dry. You can then hot glue or staple your leaves onto the cornice board. You could also use a green fabric, cut the leaf shapes, you could starch the fabric to make it stiffer, then hot glue or tack it to the cornice board. And another option...depending on the price...use silk plant leaves. |
